As a Phlebotomist, you will exhibit proficiency in blood collection through venipuncture and capillary techniques from patients of all age groups, including pediatric and difficult draws in medical office buildings. You will be working with pediatric patients under the supervision of the lab supervisor and team lead. A comprehensive understanding of compliance and safety is essential, along with the ability to communicate its importance effectively to other employees. Additionally, you will provide orientation and training for patient service technicians.

Responsibilities

• Perform blood collection by venipuncture and capillary techniques from patients of all age groups.
• Conduct pediatric blood collections and handle difficult draws in medical office buildings.
• Ensure compliance with safety standards and communicate their importance to team members.
• Provide orientation and training for patient service technicians.
• Work with pediatric patients under the supervision of the lab supervisor and team lead.

Essential Skills

• Proficiency in phlebotomy, including venipuncture and neonatal procedures.
• Possession of a CPT 1 License.
• Strong computer skills and experience with lab systems such as Cerner.
• Excellent customer service skills.
• At least six months to one year of experience in an acute or sub-acute setting, with neonatal experience preferred.
• Experience in both outpatient and inpatient settings, with the ability to draw 45-55 patients in an 8-hour outpatient shift and 20-30 patients in an 8-hour inpatient shift.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• High School Diploma.
• Hospital experience is a plus.
• Excellent attendance and behavior record.
• Flexibility with shifts and hours.
• Ability to travel to various medical office buildings throughout South Orange County.

Work Environment

The role involves working in high-volume medical office buildings and, upon permanent placement, transitioning to the main lab in a hospital setting. The schedule requires availability between 6 AM to 11 PM every day of the week. The work environment includes various draw stations located in different cities within South Orange County, such as Aliso Viejo, Irvine, Foothill Ranch, Huntington Beach, Santa Ana, and Tustin. The role requires traveling between these locations.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Irvine, CA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $21.00 - $25.00/hr.
