Warehouse Expediter

Lib's Grill

Warehouse Expediter

This is a hands-on operational role that lives in the catering warehouse and helps keep events moving accurately, efficiently, and on time. The Warehouse Expediter role is not intended to be a desk-only administrative position or simply a packing position. This person is responsible for reviewing upcoming events, asking the right questions before items are packed, physically checking trucks and bins before they leave, and helping connect the needs of the front-of-house team, kitchen, and warehouse.

The right person for this role is highly detail-oriented, comfortable giving direction, and able to hold the team accountable in a professional way. They should be able to look at an event from the full operations perspective, including timing, presentation, staffing, truck space, equipment, food carts, substitutions, and client expectations.

Full-time position based primarily at Lib's Catering warehouse in Owings Mills: 11 Gwynns Mill Ct, Suite S.

Primary schedule is expected to include Monday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, though exact days and hours may shift based on event volume and operational needs.

Weekend and occasional holiday availability is required.

Some local travel may be required for event support, logistics, deliveries, or truck-related needs.

Event Readiness & Quality Control

Review PDOs and event details ahead of time to identify questions, concerns, shortages, or special needs before packing begins.

Walk each truck with a clipboard and physically check that items are correct before the truck leaves the warehouse.

Open packed bins and check them against par levels, packing expectations, and event needs.

Confirm that equipment, tableware, supplies, disposables, bars, and presentation pieces match the event package and client expectations.

Identify low stock levels early enough to make thoughtful substitutions before the day before the event.

Determine appropriate substitutions based on the event style, presentation, package, guest expectations, and available inventory.

Communicate missing items, damage, shortages, or concerns before they become day-of problems.

Warehouse Flow & Accountability

Help keep the warehouse clean, organized, and accountable so items are returned to the correct place after each event.

Make sure rental returns, dirty items, dishwashing flow, and event breakdown items are handled properly.

Manage or help coordinate the warehouse schedule, dishwashing schedule, and support coverage based on event volume.

Direct warehouse support team members as needed to complete operational tasks accurately and on time.

Help ensure trucks are clean, fueled, and event-ready; this may include completing the task directly or delegating it to the appropriate warehouse team member.

Maintain awareness of inventory levels, recurring shortages, damaged items, and operational patterns that need attention.

FOH, HOH & Kitchen Communication

Serve as a liaison between front-of-house, heart-of-house/kitchen, and warehouse teams.

Check out food carts so the kitchen team can stay focused on cooking, food quality, and production needs.

Lib's Catering Warehouse Expediter / Event Operations Support

Help strategize the best way to send out events based on timing, equipment, staffing, truck space, venue logistics, and event needs.

Communicate clearly and proactively with managers, chefs, warehouse staff, drivers, and event leads.

Escalate issues early and help problem-solve with a calm, solutions-focused approach.

Event & Truck Support

Assist with loading and unloading trucks when needed, while maintaining a quality-control mindset.

Support event setup, breakdown, deliveries, or troubleshooting when operational needs require it.

Drive company vehicles or box trucks as needed for event logistics, deliveries, or support coverage.

Help ensure safety standards are followed within the warehouse, during truck loading, and during event setup/breakdown.

What Success Looks Like

Trucks leave on time completed, organized, clean, and accurate.

Questions and shortages are caught early, not the day of the event.

Warehouse items are returned to the correct place and the team understands expectations.

Kitchen, FOH, and warehouse teams feel supported and informed.

Event teams can focus on service because the behind-the-scenes logistics are handled properly.

Issues are communicated quickly, clearly, and with possible solutions.

Qualifications & Physical Requirements

Valid driver's license and ability to drive a box truck (non-CDL).

Ability to lift and move packages, equipment, and event materials weighing at least 50 pounds.

Ability to stand, walk, bend, carry, climb, kneel, lift, pull, push, reach, twist, and move throughout the day.

Strong attention to detail and ability to multitask in a fast-paced event environment.

Comfortable giving direction, following up, and holding others accountable.

Strong communication skills and ability to work well with kitchen, warehouse, sales, and event teams.

Prior catering, warehouse, logistics, event, restaurant, or operations experience is preferred, but not required for the right person.
