Job Summary The Sterile Processing Technician II is a certified technician whose responsibilities cover decontaminating, assembling, sterilizing, storing, and distributing surgical instruments, supplies, and equipment according to established standards and guidelines. The SP Tech II demonstrates personal and professional effectiveness when working in an indirect patient care department and addressing the requests of the customer or provider. Education High School Diploma or GED. Minimum Qualifications Central Service Technology Course or equivalent work experience (at least one year experience in central sterile processing). License & Certifications Hold one of the following certifications or obtain within one year of hire: CRCST, CSPDT, or CBSPD. Work Experience One (1) year of Central Sterile Processing experience required. Communication Skills Above average verbal communication (heavy public contact). Bilingual Skills Preferred Writing/Reports (legible handwriting and coherent writing). Other Skills Medical terms (surgical and medical terminology knowledge). Critical thinking. Multi‑task in a fast‑paced environment. Ability to lead projects. Monitor and interpret results of gauges and research surgical instruments and supply companies. Proficiency with PC and related software. Work Schedule Weekends, holidays, flexible, on call. Equipment Operated Sterilization equipment. Decontamination equipment. Computer/printer. Elevator system. Scope disinfector. Heat sealer. Incubators. Bar code scanners and computer software. Temperature monitors and equipment gauges. Visual screen monitors. Digital camera.
