CERTIFIED MEDICAL ASSISTANT SERVICES

Assess patients' needs for CMA/MA care, plan medical interventions, and evaluate the effectiveness of those interventions, adjusting medical plans accordingly. Administer oxygen, subcutaneous, and intramuscular medication. Prepare patients for surgical or diagnostic procedures. Operate and monitor specialized equipment such as cardiac monitors and defibrillators. Inventory medicine and drug stocks to ensure adequate supplies and controls. Provide immediate evaluation and management of emergent problems as they occur in addition to regular scheduled appointments. Greet and receive patients at the clinic, discreetly ascertain the nature of their illness or condition, and direct them to appropriate care. Respond to requests for routine non‑medical information such as duty status. Receive and screen phone calls. File and maintain healthcare records, including health care reports and a checkout file. Input daily patient information into the Coast Guard Healthcare Information Systems. Use Microsoft applications such as Word, Excel, Access, Outlook, and PowerPoint to track data, generate reports, and prepare presentations. Review and route incoming correspondence. Schedule and track consultations for specialty care. Maintain the referral log and notify patients of appointments. Review and verify patient eligibility for care in accordance with Defense Eligibility Enrollment Reporting System (DEERS) computer system guidelines. Provide instruction to clinic staff on an ad‑hoc basis. Prepare and submit appropriate documentation as specified in the applicable regulations. Become familiar with the TRICARE medical benefits program through completion of appropriate nonresident training and offer benefits counseling to Coast Guard beneficiaries regarding the utilization of their TRICARE benefits. Performance Monitoring The CMA/MA performance will be monitored through a joint function of the Health, Safety, Work‑Life Service Center (HSWL SC) Quality Improvement process and the contractual demand for services. CMA/MA productivity is expected to be comparable to that of other medical department staff assigned to the same facility with authorized scope of duties. #J-18808-Ljbffr WJM Professional Services, LLC
