Summary

Reporting to the department manager, the Sanitation Technician is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and compliant work environment while supporting overall operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

• Follow all health and safety procedures, including Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), and consistently wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Ensure compliance with food safety standards and regulatory requirements (e.g., FDA, SQF, or equivalent governing bodies).
• Prepare equipment for cleaning and perform lockout/tagout procedures safely.
• Use cleaning chemicals properly in accordance with safety guidelines and product labels.
• Clean and sanitize production equipment, including conveyors, drip pans, rinsers, pasteurizers, and related systems.
• Maintain cleanliness of floors, drains, ceilings, walls, and warehouse areas.
• Clean auxiliary and facility spaces, including restrooms, offices, and common areas.
• Empty waste and maintain exterior grounds as assigned.
• Verify sanitation effectiveness through inspections and chemical testing.
• Maintain accurate sanitation records and complete daily sanitation schedules.
• Minimize downtime during sanitation processes and pre-operational inspections.

Required Skills

• Ability to read and interpret Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and technical documents.
• Knowledge of safe chemical handling and sanitation procedures.
• Ability to operate industrial cleaning equipment such as pressure washers and floor scrubbers.
• Strong awareness of potential sanitation risks and proactive problem-solving skills.

Working Conditions

• Flexible schedule including weekdays, weekends, evenings, and overnight shifts as needed.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and climb for extended periods.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
• Good hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity.
