Hours: 7 PM – 7:30 AM AWS Hours Requirement: 12/36 – 12 Hour Shift Weekend Requirements: Every Other On-Call Required: No Hourly Pay Range (Minimum – Midpoint – Maximum): $61,740 – $70,170 – $90,160. The stated pay scale reflects the range as defined by the collective bargaining agreement between Sharp HealthCare and Sharp Professional Nurses Network, United Nurses Associations of California/Union of Health Care Professionals, NUHHCE, AFSME, AFL‑CIO. Placement within the range is based on years of RN experience. What You Will Do Provide direct and indirect nursing services to patients and families. Required Qualifications Graduate of nursing school. Minimum 1 year of clinical experience. California Registered Nurse (RN) – CA Board of Registered Nursing required. AHA Basic Life Support for Healthcare Professional (AHA BLS Healthcare) required. Essential Functions Clinical advancement Uses systematic planning, appropriate methods and timely exchange of information with multidisciplinary team and patients/families to coordinate care. Manages multiple patient needs and aspects of care. Communicates with care team to plan patient care; utilizes available resources to problem‑solve and determine most effective approach. Applies nursing process and critical thinking to provide patient care that is individualized, goal‑directed and consistent with current safety standards. Identifies actual or potential patient risks, continually evaluates interventions, and adjusts care plans as needs change. Identifies necessary referrals based on assessments; collaborates with patient, family, and team members to develop comprehensive plans. Prioritizes resource demand and collaborates to meet individualized needs. Acts as preceptor/teacher for nurses on nursing process application to the unit population. Implements safe, therapeutic and efficient care for patients with complex needs. Demonstrates accountability for achieving patient outcomes. Documents care comprehensively, serving as a resource for staff document‑specific issues. Charts reflect a critical‑thinking/problem‑oriented approach. Clinical leadership Delegates tasks, communicates expectations, and ensures completion with appropriate supervision. Assesses appropriateness of orders and questions physicians appropriately. Provides constructive feedback, offers assistance, and supports coworkers. Educates students, floats, travelers/registry personnel; documents appropriately. Provides incidental teaching to team members. Looks for ways to improve processes and systems. Nurse‑patient/family relationship Establishes therapeutic relationships; anticipates and addresses barriers (spiritual, cultural, language, etc.). Adapts interventions to meet diverse needs; serves as patient advocate. Provides age‑appropriate education on recovery, self‑care, end‑of‑life, health maintenance, and wellness. Coordinates transfer, discharge planning, and teaching with the health‑care team. Collaborates on patient education materials and applies adult learning principles. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Independently performs nursing process with individualized assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation. Performs safe nursing care in complex situations with supervision. Demonstrates competency in unit skills and advanced skills; may teach some competencies. Coordinates care administered by other team members; may serve as relief charge nurse and assist in preceptorship. Uses equipment and medications safely; consults when unfamiliar. Recognizes inconsistencies, manages complications, prioritizes workload, and handles emergencies. Participates in quality improvement initiatives; complies with regulatory and accreditation standards. Exhibits professional behavior; participates in unit activities and committees. Teaches skills as necessary; promotes clinical effectiveness and efficient resource use. Transfers knowledge and mentors others; demonstrates complex problem‑solving and critical thinking. Incentives & Eligibility Relocation Bonus: $5,000 for new hires moving to San Diego. Referral Bonus: $2,500 for internal referrals from existing employees (eligible for qualified external hires). Eligibility Requirements: Minimum 1 year of related experience. Current employees or those rejoining less than 12 months from last employment are not eligible. To receive the sign‑on bonus must remain in original FTE status, shift, department, specialty, and job title.
