AV Design Engineer

Duties & Responsibilities:Provide technical design and technical verification of AV and Structured Cabling design-build systemsCollaborate with design peers, external partners and account executives to create a competent system design that meets customers’ requirements while maintaining high-quality design principlesVerification and engineering of awarded bid system designsProvide directions to drafting technicians to complete shop drawings in compliance with company standardsProvide technical support to the Operations department, Sales department andService department as neededAssist with bid take-offs and compilation of pricing for bids on an as-needed basisMeet with manufacturer sales representatives to keep up with current and new product offerings to better meet the needs of our customersMeet with customers and conduct needs assessments, client visits, product and real estate strategy meetings, interdepartmental technology and IT-related meetings, and other meetings to ensure all solutions are designed and tailored to customers’ specific needsWork with leadership to understand and continue to develop vision, preferred products, vendor agreements, and maintain an up-to-date education on preferred and high-potential product linesAct as the primary contact for customers regarding technology questions and sales processCreate Bill of Materials, quoting and other project documentation using internal software toolsVisit job sites to ensure installations meet design specificationsAssist in commissioning, configuration, and support of installed systemsJob Specifications/Qualifications:A minimum of a two-year degree from an accredited College or University or 5Years of equivalent industry experience in Professional Sound Reinforcement or Professional Audio-Visual systemsAbility to understand complex construction drawings and specificationsKnowledge and understanding of electrical raceway designStrong understanding of basic electrical theoryStrong computer skills with the ability to adapt to a wide range of software and hardwareMust complete industry training and certifications as requiredMust have excellent interpersonal and people skills with an upbeat and enthusiastic attitude and the ability to work with a diverse group of peopleMust have excellent customer service skills to work with both external and internal customersMust be able to read and develop technical drawings and specificationsExcellent written and verbal communications skillsAbility to work through and solve complex problems with minimal supervisionAbility to work a flexible schedule based on workload requirementsKnowledgeable in IP networking and infrastructureKnowledgeable in Audio and Video over IP protocolsKnowledgeable in Digital Audio and Video SystemsElectrical or General Construction backgroundExposure to structural and mechanical designD-Tools, AutoCAD, SketchUp Pro, Visio, StarDraw, or similar A/V and architectural design tool experienceExperience with Steelcase technology products and Hedberg accounting and quoting system a plusExperience with designing technology that integrates with furniture and furniture systemsFactory training for Digital Signal Processor programming from manufacturers such as Biamp, QSC, Shure, Poly, Control System Programming or Design training with Crestron, Extron, AMX or other related factory trainingBICSI Certification a plusAVIXA Certified Technology Specialist CTS or CTS-D highly preferredLive Audio or Video Production ExperienceExperience in Audio and Video system tuning, calibration and commissioningSound Reinforcement System DesignBroadcast Video or Audio-Visual System DesignKnowledge of commonly used concepts, best practices and procedures within the Information Technology discipline (ITIL)Actual field experienceMust maintain a valid driver’s license with clean driving record and meet all eligibility requirementsEmployee is required to stand, walk, climb, sit and use hands and fingersSome light lifting, reaching and grasping objects is requiredThe noise level in the work environment is usually moderateAlthough most work is performed inside, occasional outside activities are subject to seasonal temperature fluctuationsA minimum of business casual dress is requiredBasic computer skills using Microsoft O365 (i.e., Outlook, Teams, SharePoint, Excel, etc.)Education: College degree in related field or equivalent job experienceSupervisory Responsibilities: N/AWork Environment: Hybrid - Home and Hyphn Experience Centeroffice environment with energetic atmosphere.Hyphn is proud to be an equal opportunity employer.
