Locum MD (Medical Doctor), DO (Osteopathic Doctor) Cardiology

. This is a contract-based, on-site opportunity for an Associate-level physician who is committed to delivering high-quality cardiology care to patients. /p>

In this locum tenens role, you will provide expert cardiovascular assessment, diagnosis,and treatment while collaborating with our healthcare team to ensure optimal patient outcomes. As an Associate-level Cardiologist, you will have the opportunity to serve the Merced community, working within a supportive clinical environment that values clinical excellence, patient safety,and continuity of care.

 

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive cardiology consultations and evaluations for patients
• Diagnose and manage acute and chronic cardiovascular conditions
• Develop and implement individualized treatment plans
• Order and interpret diagnostic tests(including electrocardiograms, echocardiograms, stress tests, and other cardiac assessments)
• Collaborate with primary care physicians, specialists,and healthcare staff to coordinate patient care
• Document patient encounters accurately and timely in medical records
• Communicate effectively with patients and their families regarding diagnosis, treatment options,and follow-up care
• Participate in on-site clinical routines, patient rounds,and multidisciplinary team meetings where applicable
• Adhere to medical practice policies, clinical standards,and regulatory requirements
• Provide coverage for cardiology services as scheduled under the locum tenens contract agreement

Requirements

• Medical Doctor (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine(DO) degree from an accredited institution
• Board certification or active board eligibility in Cardiology
• Valid, unrestricted medical license in the applicable state of practice
• Associate-level clinical experience in cardiology or a related internal medicine setting
• Strong clinical reasoning and diagnostic skills
• Excellent patient communication and bedside manner
• Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a healthcare team
• Proficiency with electronic medical records(EMR) systems
• Commitment to providing high-quality, evidence-based cardiovascular care
• Flexibility to adapt to varying clinical schedules and on-site coverage requirements

Schedule: Monday-Friday, 9-hour shifts

After-hours call shifts, 10-22 shifts per month

Setting: 100% inpatient

Patient Population: Adults and geriatrics

Duties: Diagnostic caths, PCIs, unassigned EKGs, echos, cardiac consults, and managing hospital consults/rounds

Support Staff: Cath lab team, including RNs and techs

EMR: Cerner

Must be board-certified or board-eligible
