About the Position: The position will be based in MDEQ's Field Services Division Laboratory located in Pearl, MS. The position will serve as the FSD Laboratory Director and will plan, direct, and manage the activities of the FSD Laboratory which includes environmental monitoring, chemical and biological laboratory operations, fish kill responses, and biological sampling; Manage Laboratory personnel and budget; Collaborate with MDEQ programs to identify their monitoring and technical support needs; Assist in policy development; Provide chemical and biological expertise to the agency.
What you'll need to be Successful: Knowledge of EPA environmental sampling methods and field-testing procedures. Knowledge of EPA environmental sample analysis methods pertaining to Wet Chemistry, Microbiology, Metals, and Organic parameters. General knowledge of data flow within a laboratory from sample collection to quality control validation.

Typically requires a Bachelor's Degree and 7-9 years of experience.

Flexible Spending Accounts

Paid Personal Leave and Sick Leave Full-time employees receive paid time off for personal needs and for sick leave. Leave begins accruing after one month of employment and may be used as it is accrued. Employees earn approximately 18 days of personal leave annually and 12 days of sick leave annually.
Military Leave

In accordance with federal law, all employees serving in the armed forces or the military reserves are entitled to 15 days per year for military training.
