Optical Assembly TechnicianPrimary Duties & ResponsibilitiesClean optical components under microscopeSet up optical alignment stationsManually handle, align and install diverse optical components using adjustment fixtures while monitoring diverse optical parameters, and continue to adjust alignment optimize and balance all optical parameters until these parameters reach optimal and meet specs.Do optical performance test for WSS optical assemblyApply and cure UV glues to fix optical componentsInspect own work according to quality specificationsProduce work that meets workmanship standards and strict quality criteriaPerform incoming inspectionsCross-trained for upstream and downstream operationsLoad and unload alignment stationsCorrectly enter numerical dataDocumentation and communication of suggestions for continuous improvementMaintains a good record concerning absenteeism and tardinessEducation & ExperienceHigh school diploma or equivalent preferredBasic reading and math skills (add, subtract, multiply and divide)3+ years of experience in fiber optics related fieldExperience in optical alignment and assembly using fixtures, hand tools and test equipment preferredDemonstrated ability to work in a team based environmentDemonstrated ability to achieve results independently and work with othersAbility to recommend and implement improvementsGood interpersonal and communication skillsSkillsGood manual dexterityAbility to visually inspect optics for cleanliness/defects using a microscopeAbility to clean optical componentsAbility to manually handle, align and install diverse optical componentsAbility to monitor diverse optical parameters and to align optical components to optimize and balance all optical parameters until these parameters reach optimum and meet specs.Ability to provide feedback in the development of new processes, tools and techniques working with the Engineering teamAbility to work independently with minimal guidance from the supervisorAbility to solve problems & make correct decisions in short timeframes, oftentimes with minimal supervisionAbility to excel in a cross-organizational, cross cultural, global team environmentHandle special assignments with speed and effectivenessWorking ConditionsR&D engineering lab and manufacturing cleanroomPhysical RequirementsAble to wear plastic/latex gloves or finger cots.Safety RequirementsAll employees are required to follow the site EHS procedures and Coherent Corp.
