The Cooperstown Central School District is seeking a qualified candidate to fill a substitute bus monitor position. Overview: Ride with students primarily students with special needs on morning and afternoon bus runs. Ensure a safe, orderly, and supportive environment while assisting the driver and students. Key Responsibilities:
- Assist students with preparatory tasks (e.g., buckling seat belts and harnesses)
- Maintain order and supervise student behavior during transport
- Communicate safety expectations and provide positive support
- Perform additional related duties as assigned
- Morning : 6:50-8:00 AM
- Afternoon : 2:15-4:00 PM
- Successful completion of the 10-hour Basic School Bus Monitor & Attendant Course (training provided if needed)
- Good judgment, tact, and courtesy; ability to work well with children and earn their respect
- Good general intelligence and physical condition suitable for the role
