Job Description

The Registered Nurse (RN) maintains the delivery of quality care by assuring the nursing care plan is followed. The RN supervises Licensed Practical Nurses, Certified Nursing Assistants, and orientees, emphasizing patient and employee safety and a focus on results. The role requires a commitment to the Select Medical Way and Core Values of delivering superior quality in care while treating others with respect.

Responsibilities

• Perform nursing assessments on all patients within 8 hours of admission and develop personalized care plans.
• Identify teaching needs and collaborate with patients, families, and interdisciplinary teams.
• Provide timely patient information for team conferences and document all care accurately in medical records.
• Engage in patient rehabilitation programs and prioritize patient education based on identified health care needs.
• Initiate discharge planning and patient teaching from the day of admission.
• Ensure continuity of care by communicating changes in patient status among care providers.
• Supervise and train ancillary nursing personnel, while delegating tasks appropriately.
• Conduct safety measures to ensure personal and environmental safety in accordance with hospital policies.
• Contribute to team dynamics and maintain calm communication among staff, patients, and families.
• Oversee unit operations and manage supply needs with manager and senior staff.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• BLS Certification required prior to first shift.
• ACLS Certification required prior to first shift (CIRH ONLY).
• Minimum of two (2) years of bedside clinical experience is highly desired.
