IT Technician (Contract)

Position Overview

We are seeking a skilled IT Technician to provide technical support and maintenance for retail technology systems across multiple store locations. This role will be responsible for supporting Point of Sale (POS) systems, payment devices, fuel dispenser interfaces, network infrastructure, and enterprise applications. The ideal candidate will deliver timely technical support, ensure maximum system uptime, and provide outstanding customer service to store personnel and business stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

Deliver Tier 1, Tier 2, and onsite technical support for retail technology systems across multiple locations.

Troubleshoot, diagnose, and resolve issues involving Gilbarco Passport POS systems, including hardware, software, Verifone PIN pads, scanners, printers, and other peripheral devices.

Install, configure, and maintain back-office computers, operating systems, printers, and retail business applications.

Monitor and support retail network infrastructure, including routers, switches, wireless access points, and overall network connectivity.

Support fuel dispenser interface equipment, loyalty platforms, and communication systems used in fuel retail operations.

Respond to incidents, service requests, and system outages while meeting established service level agreements (SLAs).

Investigate and resolve hardware, software, payment processing, and network-related issues impacting daily store operations.

Collaborate with internal IT teams, third-party vendors, and service providers to troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues.

Accurately document incidents, troubleshooting activities, resolutions, and system changes within the organization's IT service management platform.

Perform software upgrades, hardware replacements, preventive maintenance, and technology deployments.

Assist with new store openings, remodel projects, equipment installations, and technology refresh initiatives.

Maintain accurate inventory records for IT hardware, software, and retail technology assets.

Ensure compliance with IT security policies, operational procedures, and company technology standards.

Deliver professional and customer-focused technical support to store associates, field teams, and internal business partners.

Preferred Qualifications

Hands-on experience supporting Gilbarco Passport POS systems within convenience store or fuel retail environments.

Knowledge of fuel dispenser communication systems and dispenser interface technologies.

Experience supporting Verifone payment terminals, EMV devices, and payment processing systems.

Strong understanding of TCP/IP networking, VPN connectivity, wireless networking, and remote support tools.

Experience working with IT ticketing systems, asset management platforms, and ITIL-based support processes.

Excellent troubleshooting, analytical, communication, and customer service skills.

Ability to prioritize multiple support requests and work independently in a fast-paced retail environment.

Contract Details

Position Type: Contract

Contract Duration: 12+ months (with potential extension)

Start Date: Immediate, pending completion of onboarding requirements.
