ICU Registered Nurse (RN)

The Intensive Care Unit (ICU) Registered Nurse will provide exceptional care to critically ill patients in a multi-care environment, focusing on various acuities including ICU and PCU patients. This role involves monitoring, assessing, and supporting patients with serious health conditions, ensuring optimal care and recovery.

Key Responsibilities

• Monitor and assess patients in the ICU setting with various medical conditions.
• Administer medications and manage intravenous (IV) infusions per protocols.
• Titrate drips such as sedation, vasopressors, and insulin as required.
• Perform EKGs and interpret cardiac rhythms including 12-lead readings.
• Collaborate with healthcare team members to provide comprehensive patient care.
• Float to related units such as Medical Surgical, Pediatrics, and other ICU/PCU areas to maintain competency.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of ICU experience required, with a background in PCU or Med-Surg preferred.
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications are mandatory.
• Must pass a dysrhythmia exam prior to contract signing, achieving a score of 80% or higher within two attempts.
• Ability to work 12-hour night shifts, including every other weekend and rotating holidays.
• Compliance with the radius rule of 50 miles and no recent employment with associated healthcare facilities.

Patient Care Environment

• The unit comprises a total of 10 beds, consolidating three acuities in a single area.
• Staffing ratios may vary based on patient acuity: ICU 1:2, PCU 1:4, and MST 1:5-6 without a nurse aide.
• Common patient diagnoses include sepsis, respiratory distress, drug withdrawal, and post-operative complications.
• Remote monitoring and support from respiratory therapy services are available for patients requiring ventilator support.

Work Schedule

• 12-hour shifts from 0700-1900 or 1930-0730.
• Mandatory every other weekend and holiday rotations to ensure equitable distribution of holiday responsibilities.
• Possible floating to other units and locations based on patient care needs.

Dress Code

Scrub colors are flexible; however, camouflage scrubs are not permitted.
