About the Position

Job Opportunity – Critical Care RN – Maryland

Start Date: October 19, 2026
Location: Hagerstown, Maryland
Compensation: Details provided to qualified applicants
Schedule: 36 guaranteed hours per week, 1:2 nurse-to-patient ratio, every other weekend required

Highlights:

• Complex patient population including trauma, cardiovascular, stroke, and neuro diagnoses
• State-of-the-art 24-bed ICU with an 18-patient daily census
• Epic EMR system experience required
• Comprehensive 24-hour orientation with robust interdisciplinary support including respiratory services, rapid response teams, pharmacy, and physical therapy
• Float to IMC as needed to support facility operations
• One pre-approved time off request per assignment

Requirements:

• Active RN license in Maryland or pending (pending licenses accepted)
• Current ACLS, BLS, and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certifications required
• Minimum 2 years of ICU experience; 3+ years preferred
• Previous travel nursing experience required; first-time travelers not accepted
• Epic charting system experience mandatory
• Experience with 1:2 patient ratios in critical care settings
• Charge nurse experience preferred
• Trauma Level I or II experience preferred
• Community hospital experience preferred
• COVID-19 and Flu vaccinations required (no exemptions)

Clinical Skills and Competencies:

• Advanced hemodynamic monitoring including arterial lines, CVP monitoring, and FloTrac/Vigileo systems
• Ventilator management and care of ventilated patients including BiPAP/CPAP and high flow nasal cannula
• Experience with CRRT/CVVHD and intra-aortic balloon pump (IABP)
• Neurocritical care including ICP monitoring, external ventricular drains (EVD), lumbar drains, and post-craniotomy management
• Cardiovascular interventions including pre/post cardiac catheterization, TAVR, and sheath removal
• Advanced medication management: titration of vasoactive and cardiac drips, continuous IV sedation, paralytics, and IV insulin protocols
• Central line and PICC line management, port access, and blood product administration
• Stroke and traumatic brain injury management with hypothermia protocols
• Management of multisystem organ dysfunction and failure

Patient Population:

You will care for adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients with medical, surgical, trauma, cardiovascular, stroke, and neurological diagnoses in a fast-paced critical care environment.
