About Us Albany State University is a fully accredited senior unit of the University System of Georgia. The Human Resources office for both campuses is located on the West Campus in Building K, Suite 209. Job Summary The Dean of Students is a senior leader within the Division of Student Affairs & Enrollment Management and plays a central role in fostering safe, supportive, and inclusive student experience at Albany State University. The Dean provides comprehensive leadership for student wellness, care, conduct, and support systems, ensuring full alignment with institutional priorities and the expectations of the University System of Georgia (USG). The Dean directly supervises the Directors of Counseling & Student Accessibility Services, Student Support & Student Conduct, and Student Health Services. Through strategic planning, fiduciary and budgetary oversight, compliance management, and data driven leadership, the Dean ensures high-quality, student-centered operations that enhance student well-being, promote community standards, and contribute to ASU's goals for retention, persistence, and degree completion. - Provide direct supervision, guidance, and evaluation of departmental directors, fostering accountability and operational excellence.
- Oversee strategic planning, staffing, and day-to-day operations for all reporting units.
- Provide fiduciary, budgetary, and resource management oversight, ensuring responsible stewardship of division resources.
- Lead assessment, reporting, and data-driven decision-making processes to improve program quality and student outcomes.
- Ensure departmental alignment with federal, state, and USG regulations, including FERPA, ADA/Section 504, Title IX, the Clery Act, and the USG Board of Regents Student Code of Conduct.
- Lead a comprehensive model of wraparound support services that integrate wellness, counseling, accessibility, conduct, case management, and health services to address student needs holistically.
- Use data to identify student populations at risk and coordinate timely interventions that support academic continuity, well-being, and campus engagement.
- Strengthen cross divisional collaborations with Enrollment Management, Academic Affairs, Residence Life, Athletics, and other units to remove barriers to persistence and enhance the student experience.
- Promote a campus environment where students feel connected, supported, and empowered-key drivers of retention and degree completion.
- Oversee the Office of Student Conduct, ensuring fair, educational, and timely adjudication of conduct cases.
- Ensure full alignment with the USG Board of Regents Student Code of Conduct and university policies.
- Promote restorative justice practices and conflict resolution strategies that develop student accountability, reduce recidivism, and support continued enrollment.
- Provide administrative leadership for student mental health counseling, accessibility services, and clinical health operations.
- Ensure culturally responsive, evidence-based, and equitable service delivery across all wellness units.
- Oversee ADA/Section 504 compliance and ensure students with disabilities have equitable access to academic and campus resources.
- Support preventive education and outreach initiatives that improve student health, well-being, and academic functioning.
- Serve as a key leader in student crisis response, partnering with University Police, Counseling, Health Services, Housing, and other stakeholders.
- Chair or co-chair the Behavioral Intervention Team, ensuring effective case management, early awareness, and risk mitigation.
- Maintain an on-call presence as needed to support student crises or emergent issues.
- Serve as a visible campus leader, advocating for student needs and fostering a climate that supports success and personal development.
- Represent Student Affairs on institutional committees and task forces as assigned.
- Strengthen and maintain relationships with students, families, faculty, staff, and community partners.
- Masters degree in Higher Education, Student Affairs, Counseling, Public Health, or a related field.
- Minimum of seven (7) years of progressive experience in student affairs, with supervisory experience.
- Demonstrated experience in student conduct, counseling, case management, health services, crisis response, or related areas.
- Knowledge of federal, state, and USG policies and compliance expectations.
- Commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and the success of historically underserved student populations.
- Or an equivalent combination of education and experience will be accepted.
- Doctorate in Higher Education, Counseling, Student Affairs Leadership, Public Health, or related field.
- Experience working within the University System of Georgia or another public higher education system.
- Leadership experience in integrated student wellness or case management models.
