Role Overview A.L.C. is seeking a Fabric R&D Associate to provide support for the fabric department across color development, fabric research and development, and pre‑production. This role maintains linesheets, design boards, charts, swatch cards, reports, and purchase orders, and serves as a key communicator of fabric information to internal and external cross‑functional partners, including mills, production, and design. The ideal candidate has prior experience in fabric, textiles, or product development at a contemporary or luxury fashion brand, with a keen eye for color and fabric detail. They are highly organized, process‑oriented, and comfortable managing detailed information across multiple systems, mills, and seasonal timelines. Responsibilities Color Assist in building seasonal color palettes. Launch mill color development packages. Track color submits and labdips. Communicate color approvals to mills. Check sample yardage color against approved labdips. Maintain seasonal and archival labdip books. Fabric R&D Maintain fabric seasonal and archival libraries. Issue s/y purchase orders for test, proto, and sample yardage. Track sample shipments. Approve and submit invoices. Prepare sample yardage headers and swatches. Update fabric and color information on linesheets, design boards, fabric charts, labels, and production handoff cards. Fabric Pre‑Production Attend seasonal meetings with Merchandising, PD and Production to review upcoming bulk commitments. Double‑check FDS for complete and accurate information. Update content table in the company’s data management tools and ERP. Prepare seasonal fabric handoff swatches and binder for Production Handover. Qualifications 1‑3 years of experience in fabric, textiles, or product development at a contemporary or luxury fashion brand. Strong knowledge of fabric, color, and labdip/approval processes. Highly organized with excellent attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple seasonal timelines simultaneously. Comfortable maintaining detailed records and information across linesheets, charts, and purchase order systems. Strong communication skills and comfort working cross‑functionally with mills, production, and design. Proficiency in Excel and Adobe Illustrator; experience with PLM or Full Circle a plus. Benefits The compensation for this position ranges from $60,000 to $70,000 annually. The rate of pay offered will be dependent upon candidate’s relevant skills and experience.
