Maintenance Tech

Technician, Maintenance DepartmentPerform general maintenance and repair of building structures and equipment throughout the District.Ability to understand and carry out simple oral and written directions; ability to read, write, understand and communicate sufficiently to perform the essential functions of the position, one year related experience, and a valid Texas driver's license able to qualify as a driver under the district's insurance carrier when driving a district vehicle.Repair and maintain district facilities including repairing woodwork, replacing broken glass, painting, installing ceiling and flooring materials and replacing plumbing fixtures and drainage systems.Inspect, detect, report, and perform needed repairs and maintenance on building exterior and interior, including playground equipment.Safely climb ladders and operate lifts and work in hot, cold, and wet conditions and work in high elevation roof tops.Playground maintenance and regular inspections.Masonry work to include rock/brick on flowerbeds, retaining walls, sidewalk slabs and concrete removal.Bleacher repair, removal or new installation.Repair major water leaks to main water lines affecting schools.Portable removal, miscellaneous carpentry work, handicap ramp installation/repair, etc.Vehicle and trailer service as required, including painting trailers.Installation of drainage pipes, where needed.Welding.Scoreboard removal.Follow Educator Code of Conduct and all policies, procedures, laws and State/Federal regulations.Perform other duties as assigned.Knowledge of established safety procedures and techniquesKnowledge of maintenance, repair and construction techniques and proceduresKnowledge of building maintenance techniques and proceduresKnowledge of applicable federal, state, and local laws, guidelines and proceduresMust maintain regular and reliable attendanceMust be able to work long hours and on weekends, as neededSkill in working in a collaborative, team-based environmentRepetitive hand motions; exposure daily to possible adverse weather elements for extended periods of time; must be able to push, pull, lift, and/or carry at least 50 lbs, 50 lbs or more with assistance.
