Lifeguard

Lifeguard Position

This position participates in the provision of lifeguarding services at the city aquatics facility.

Major duties include:

• Enforcing pool rules and policies.
• Assisting in maintaining the cleanliness and maintenance of the facility and pools.
• Inspecting facility and reporting unsafe conditions.
• Preparing incident and accident reports.
• Participating in Lifeguard training exercises.
• Responding to water emergencies and performing water rescues.
• Measuring, reading and recording water chemistry.
• Performing related duties.

Minimum qualifications include:

• Ability to read, write and perform mathematical calculations.
• Sufficient experience to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position, usually associated with the completion of an apprenticeship/internship or having had a similar position for one to two years is preferred.
• Possession of Lifeguard certification required.
• Possession of CPR / First Aid certification required.
• Minimum of 15 years of age on date of employment.

Applicants that are Certified and those not yet Certified are welcome to apply. The City will be offering Certification Classes for those interested, but not certified.
