Veterinary Technician, Critical Care
Location: Fort Wayne, IN Schedule: Full Time | 1st Shift | Rotating Schedule 4 Ten Hour Shifts (6am-4pm) & 3 Twelve Hour Shifts (6am-6pm) | Includes Every Other Weekend | Some Holidays Required Compensation: $21-26/hr, Dependent On Experience | Higher Wages Available for VTS-Credentialed Technicians | Weekend Shift Differential $1.50/hr Hiring Bonus: $1500!

In Your Day-To-Day, You Will:
- Partner closely with veterinarians to provide exceptional care for ICU patients with complex and specialized medical needs.
- Safely restrain patients for examinations, diagnostics, treatments, and procedures while prioritizing patient comfort and safety.
- Deliver advanced nursing care to hospitalized and critically ill patients, monitoring their condition and responding to changes.
- Perform blood draws, collect diagnostic samples, and assist with laboratory testing as needed.
- Accurately administer medications and treatments following hospital protocols and veterinarian instructions.
- Participate in advanced CPR efforts and maintain readiness to respond during medical emergencies.
- Communicate with clients professionally, providing patient updates, discharge instructions, and education to support ongoing care at home.
- Collaborate with veterinarians and the hospital team to deliver compassionate, high-quality care in a fast-paced specialty environment.
What You Bring:
- Veterinary Technician License (LVT, CVT, or RVT) is required
- Foundational veterinary knowledge, including patient restraint, triage, imaging, laboratory skills, and venipuncture.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Attention to detail and the ability to stay calm and organized under pressure.
- Provide excellent customer service and interact with clients in a manner that supports NIVES mission to provide the highest quality veterinary specialty and emergency medicine for small animals.
- Work with fellow team members to maintain a productive, positive and respectful environment. All technical staff, regardless of the level of experience, must be able to stand, bend, lift, and/or kneel for the duration of a shift (12 hours), and lift a minimum of twenty five pounds.
- Fluent English skills (speaking & reading) are required for the role; fluency in multiple languages a plus.
