Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: PICU Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 07:00-19:00 Hours per Shift: 36 Experience: Minimum 1 year License: Active RN License Certifications: BLS, PALS Must-Have: BLS, PALS Description: This position is for a Registered Nurse in the PICU. The unit typically has 14-22 beds, with staff numbers dependent on patient acuity and census. During day shifts, there are usually 4-6 nurses along with a unit secretary. Night shifts also have 4-6 nurses on staff. Patient ratios are typically 4:1 for medical/surgical cases. The unit utilizes EMR systems for documentation and patient data management. Common procedures performed include cleft palate repair, appendectomies, chest tube management, lumbar punctures, and seizure management. Noninvasive cardiology services are provided, but there are no neurosurgery or stroke cases, and foreign body removal from the airway is not within the scope. Current services encompass neuro, orthopedic, general surgical, and thoracic cases such as thoracotomy/thoracoscopy and pectus bar implants. The ideal candidate will be supportive and collaborative in a full team environment. Floating may occur to NICU, level 1 or 2 only. The dress code requires royal blue scrubs. Weekend work is required, with 4 weekend shifts every 4 weeks. There is no on-call requirement.
