Our client, a leading real estate investment platform, is seeking a Director, Tax Planning to join its tax leadership team. This individual will serve as a strategic partner to the business, providing tax advice across acquisitions, dispositions, joint ventures, financing transactions, and broader corporate initiatives. The role offers significant visibility and the opportunity to work closely with senior stakeholders across Investments, Finance, Legal, and Asset Management.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide strategic tax advice on acquisitions, dispositions, restructurings, and financing transactions across a diverse real estate portfolio
- Partner with Investments and Legal teams to develop and implement tax-efficient structures for new investments and business initiatives
- Support the formation and operation of investment vehicles, joint ventures, and partnership structures
- Analyze complex partnership allocations, waterfalls, and carried interest arrangements
- Evaluate the tax implications of strategic transactions and capital events
- Review technical memoranda and manage external advisors on complex matters
- Monitor legislative developments and assess their impact on the business
- Collaborate with compliance and reporting teams to ensure planning initiatives are properly implemented
- Serve as a trusted advisor to senior management and provide practical solutions to complex tax issues
- Build strong relationships across the organization and partner with stakeholders to support investment activity and long-term business objectives
Qualifications
- 12+ years of tax experience, with a combination of Big Four and industry experience strongly preferred
- Significant experience with tax structuring and complex xhyhwjd transactional matters
- Strong background supporting real estate acquisitions, dispositions, joint ventures, and financing transactions
- Deep knowledge of partnership taxation and complex investment structures
- Experience operating in a fast-paced investment environment and partnering directly with business leaders
- Ability to balance technical tax analysis with practical commercial considerations
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
- JD, or LL.M. in Taxation preferred
