Job Description:

Overview:

As an SLPA, you have a vital role in helping individuals of all ages improve their communication skills, overcome speech and language disorders, and enhance their quality of life. You will work closely with patients, families, and other team members to assess, diagnose, and follow personalized treatment plans tailored to each individual's needs. Your responsibilities will include conducting evaluations, providing therapy sessions, monitoring progress, and educating patients and caregivers on strategies for improved communication.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive evaluations to assess speech, language, communication, and swallowing disorders.
  • Develop individualized treatment plans based on assessment findings, patient goals, and evidence-based practices.
  • Provide therapy sessions using various techniques and modalities to address speech, language, cognitive-communication, and swallowing disorders.
  • Monitor and document patient progress, adjusting treatment plans as needed to achieve optimal outcomes.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, including physicians, educators, psychologists, and other healthcare professionals, to ensure coordinated care.
  • Educate patients, families, and caregivers on strategies for improving communication and swallowing function and providing guidance and support throughout the treatment process.
  • Stay current with advances in speech-language pathology through continuing education, professional development, and participation in conferences and seminars.
  • Adhere to ethical and professional standards as outlined by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) and state licensing boards.
  • Other Duties as Assigned.
Qualifications:
  • Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology Assistant from ASHA (or eligibility for certification).
  • State licensure or eligibility for licensure as a Speech-Language Pathologist Assistant.
  • Clinical experience working with diverse populations across the lifespan.
  • Strong clinical skills in assessment, diagnosis, and treatment planning for speech, language, communication, and swallowing disorders.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development and evidence-based practice.
  • Experience with augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) system
  • Clinical experience working with diverse populations across the lifespan.
  • Strong clinical skills in assessment, diagnosis, and treatment planning for speech, language, communication, and swallowing disorders.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and collaboration skills.
