Job Summary

Wee Folk Childcare is seeking a passionate, dependable, and experienced Lead Teacher to join our team. The Lead Teacher is responsible for creating a safe, engaging, and nurturing classroom where children can learn, grow, and thrive. This role provides leadership within the classroom by planning developmentally appropriate activities, mentoring assistant teachers, maintaining a positive learning environment, and building strong relationships with children and families. Responsibilities

* Plan and implement engaging, developmentally appropriate lesson plans and daily activities.
* Foster children’s cognitive, social, emotional, and physical development through play-based learning.
* Maintain a safe, clean, and organized classroom that meets North Dakota licensing requirements.
* Lead and support assistant teachers while promoting teamwork and a positive classroom culture.
* Build positive relationships with children, families, and coworkers through open communication.
* Observe and document children’s progress and communicate milestones or concerns with families.
* Manage classroom behavior using positive guidance and age-appropriate behavior management techniques.
* Ensure all health, safety, and licensing regulations are followed at all times.
* Participate in staff meetings, training, and ongoing professional development.
* Assist with daily routines including meals, toileting, rest time, outdoor play, and transitions.

Qualifications

* Previous experience working in a licensed childcare center or preschool preferred.
* Strong knowledge of child development and developmentally appropriate practices.
* Excellent classroom management and organizational skills.
* Ability to lead a classroom while working collaboratively with a team.
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
* CPR/First Aid Certification (or willingness to obtain).
* Must meet North Dakota childcare licensing requirements.
* Reliable, professional, energetic, and passionate about early childhood education.
