Key Responsibilities Deliver classroom work/homework and reinforce objectives under teacher’s direction. Assist in development and maintenance of instructional materials. Collect data on academic and behavior goals as instructed. Implement positive behavior intervention plans with certified personnel. Respond to problem behaviors per student’s plan and district policy. Transfer and/or lift non‑ambulatory students to aid daily activities. Assist students with personal hygiene and daily living skills. Support students with severe medical conditions or physical limitations (e.g., toileting, feeding, dressing, suctioning). Accompany students across campus. Monitor individual or small groups in classroom/playground to maintain a safe, positive learning environment and facilitate peer interactions. Maintain classroom equipment and ensure safety. Model professional, safe, responsible, respectful behavior. Perform clerical tasks supporting the teacher (copies, materials, billing). Participate in meetings to share information and improve skills. Ensure regular, on‑time attendance. Perform other related duties as assigned. Assist other personnel as required. Required Qualifications Associate’s Degree or 60 college credit hours (or pass the ParaPro Test provided by the district). Preferred Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent. Ability and willingness to work with special education students requiring specialized instruction. Effective communication with students, staff, parents. Ability to work well in stressful situations. Work Environment & Physical Requirements Works closely with special education teachers, general education staff, therapists, and administrators. May be in resource rooms, inclusion settings, or self‑contained classrooms. Supports students with disabilities, including intellectual, developmental, emotional, or physical. Daily duties vary based on student needs, schedules, behavior, and support plans. Must be able to stand, walk, sit, bend, and kneel frequently. May lift or assist students with physical disabilities (25–50 lbs, sometimes more).
