This Warehouse Worker role supports high-volume warehouse operations in a brand-new, large-scale distribution facility. You will handle inbound and outbound freight, ensure accurate order picking and packing, and maintain inventory integrity using RF scanners and computer systems. The position involves active, hands-on work throughout the shift, contributing directly to safe, efficient, and customer-focused logistics operations.

Responsibilities

• Unload inbound shipments safely and move products to the correct destination within the warehouse.
• Efficiently stage, stack, and load merchandise in designated areas to support smooth workflow and shipment processing.
• Move products from staging and unloading areas to the correct load doors and assigned trailers in an organized and timely manner.
• Ensure trailers are properly secured and chocked before entering, in full compliance with safety policies and procedures.
• Load and unload products using appropriate handling techniques to prevent damage and ensure safe operations.
• Segregate, check, and stage inbound products accurately to maintain order integrity and inventory accuracy.
• Verify drivers, trailers, and bills of lading are correctly matched to the specific carrier and location before processing.
• Count freight with drivers and follow all required procedures to confirm shipment quantities and documentation.
• Load trailers for safe transit, ensuring freight is properly stacked, secured, and that drivers sign all required paperwork.
• Perform labeling, sorting, wrapping, packing, and repacking of orders as needed to meet shipping and customer requirements.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized facility by regularly cleaning, organizing, and sweeping the work area.
• Keep an organized and orderly desk and mobile work station, including packing orders, validating inventory counts, printing labels, and communicating with drivers.
• Build pallets, shrink wrap palletized orders, and use pallet jacks to move and organize packed orders.
• Use RF scanners and computer systems to scan products in and out, track inventory, and update the warehouse inventory system accurately.
• Stand, walk, and lift throughout the shift to support continuous warehouse operations.
• Perform other duties as assigned to support overall warehouse efficiency and cleanliness.

Essential Skills

• Previous picking and packing experience, including accurately picking orders based on pick slips or customer order forms.
• Ability to use computers or RF scanners to track inventory and process orders.
• Capability to scan products in and out when packing orders and update information in the warehouse inventory system.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds repeatedly throughout the shift.
• Comfort with standing, walking, and lifting for the entire duration of the shift.
• Experience with material handling activities such as loading, unloading, and moving products within a warehouse.
• Hands-on experience with pallet jacks for organizing and moving palletized orders.
• General warehouse skills including order picking, shipping and receiving, and warehouse inventory handling.
• Steel-toed boots or shoes for safety in the warehouse environment.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience with packing, picking, and general labor in a warehouse or logistics environment.
• Experience in material handling, including loading and unloading trailers and staging freight.
• Familiarity with RF scanners and basic computer use for inventory tracking and order processing.
• Exposure to shipping and receiving operations and warehouse inventory management.
• Ability to operate pallet jacks safely and efficiently.
• Forklift experience is beneficial for broader material handling responsibilities.
• Comfort working in a fast-paced, client-focused logistics operation.

Work Environment

The role is based in a brand-new, 628,000 square foot, climate-controlled and well-lit warehouse that is maintained to extremely clean standards. The facility supports global third-party logistics operations across multiple transportation modes, including air, truck, and ocean, and serves diverse sectors such as automotive, aerospace, pharmaceutical, healthcare, consumer retail, and food and beverage. Approximately 250 employees work on-site, including warehouse and office staff, in a highly client-focused environment that emphasizes going above and beyond for customers. You will use RF scanners, computers, pallet jacks, and standard warehouse equipment to manage inventory and process orders. The position follows a 1st shift schedule of 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, with an initial orientation and training day from 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Work is active and physical, involving continuous standing, walking, lifting, and moving freight. Steel-toed boots or shoes are required as part of the safety-focused dress code.

Job Type & Location: This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Belleville, MI.

Pay and Benefits: The pay range for this position is $21.00 - $21.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
