Position Overview
The Manager, HR Systems & Technology leads the oversight and evolution of the organization’s HR systems landscape. This role is accountable for shaping the direction, controls, and day-to-day management of HR technology platforms to support reliable data, efficient processes, and actionable workforce insights.
Working in a service-oriented environment, this individual collaborates with HR leaders and specialty teams—including talent acquisition, total rewards, and learning & development—to understand business needs and deliver technology solutions that support employees from hire through separation.
This leader also acts as the primary owner of HR systems, guiding modernization efforts and exploring innovative capabilities such as automation and intelligent technologies to enhance efficiency, streamline processes, and elevate decision-making across HR.
Key Responsibilities
HR Systems Strategy & Oversight
- Define and maintain a forward-looking HR technology plan aligned with broader business and people priorities.
- Build and enforce governance practices, standards, and operating procedures to ensure consistency across HR systems management and support.
- Act as the central point of coordination between HR, IT, third-party providers, and other stakeholders on system-related initiatives.
- Partner with HR team leads to identify opportunities for improving process effectiveness through technology.
- Direct the assessment, selection, and rollout of new tools and system enhancements.
- Establish standards for system architecture, integrations, and data governance.
- Identify and promote opportunities to incorporate automation, AI, and emerging tools to improve efficiency and insight generation.
Systems Administration & Operations
- Oversee the integrity and flow of HR data, including employee records, integrations with external vendors, and payroll/benefits interfaces.
- Ensure processes, workflows, and system controls are well documented and consistently followed.
- Manage system configurations, upgrades, integrations, and user acceptance testing activities.
- Ensure platforms effectively support HR operations across all stages of the employee lifecycle.
Program & Implementation Leadership
- Lead system implementations and enhancements from discovery through deployment, including requirements gathering, solution design, and testing.
- Develop and monitor project plans, schedules, and milestones for HR technology initiatives.
- Drive projects to completion with a focus on accountability, timeliness, and quality outcomes.
Reporting & Insights
- Oversee the creation and maintenance of dashboards, reports, and data tools for HR leadership and business stakeholders.
- Ensure reporting accuracy and timeliness for both internal use and external benchmarking or survey submissions.
- Support the development of analytics that provide insights into workforce trends and inform talent strategies.
Qualifications & Experience
- 7–10 years of experience working with HR systems or related technologies; bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Hands-on experience supporting platforms such as Workday, ADP Workforce Now, UKG, or comparable systems.
- Strong knowledge of HR system design, including configurations, integrations, data structures, and security principles.
- Proven ability to lead projects and system implementations from end to end.
- Exposure to automation tools, AI, or emerging HR technologies is a plus.
- Strong analytical mindset with the ability to translate business needs into practical system solutions.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to build relationships and manage stakeholders effectively.
- Highly organized with strong attention to detail.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
