Gu U Ki Street Area of Interest: Public Safety Salary/ Hourly Rate: $51,874 - $78,267 / Salary Tribal Driving Permit Required: Yes DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE CLASS: Performs crime analysis work for the Police Department performing difficult statistical and analytical research involving the use of computer applications, random statistical samplings, correlation and regression analysis, and probability studies; gathering and analyzing crime data for crime pattern detection, suspect-crime correlations, target-suspect profiles, and crime forecasting. The Crime Analyst works with and is responsible for managing the analysis for both the Field Operations Bureau and the Agency Support Bureau. The incumbent will also perform tasks deemed necessary by the Chief of Police. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: · Reviewing and analyzing data with the departments Record Management System. · Develops crime patterns and suspect profiles. · Prepares reports on crime data and trends for police personnel. · Makes presentations to Police Personnel and other GRIC departments. · Provide user support and training in the use of databases and generating reports. · Perform other related duties as assigned. REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY: · Knowledge of Police Department organization and operations. · Knowledge of uniform crime reporting processes and requirements. · Knowledge in quantitative methods and program language. · Strong degree of competency related to computers and computer systems. · Skill in making public presentations. · Strong verbal and written skills. · Ability to detect crime trends using sophisticated formulas. · Ability to interpret daily statistical data for the purpose of developing organized plans of action on how to address criminal activity within the Gila River Indian Community. · Ability to extract data and develop forecast and suspect profiles based on data. · Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees, Community Officials and the general public. · Ability to perform all physical requirements of the position; agree to maintain a Drug-free workplace. REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING: Associate's degree from an accredited college or university in Criminal Justice, Social Science or a closely related field and two (2) years of law enforcement experience which included experience in analytical/social science research or administrative crime analysis. Bachelor's degree preferred. (Internal GRIC Employees) 60 credit hours or an Associate's degree from an accredited college or university in a law enforcement field or must be obtained within two (2) years of successful completion of the probationary status and two (2) years experience in analytical/social science research or administrative crime analysis. Condition of Employment: Incumbent must be enrolled in an Associate's degree program in an accredited college or university in a law enforcement related field by the end of their probationary period and complete an Associate's degree program or obtain 60 college credit hours by the end of the third (3rd) year of employment as a Crime Analyst. Plan must be submitted to Police Leadership and must be adhered to consistently showing satisfactory progress towards obtainment of Associate's degree. ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS: · Required to pass a background check. · Required to obtain a Tribal Operator's permit. Valid state driver's license with a current proof of driving record for the past 39 months will be required to qualify for a tribal driving permit . Proof of driving record must be submitted with application and must not be more than 60 days old from the date of submission of the application.
