Our client is looking for an experienced Cost Accountant to support financial planning, product costing, and reporting activities for a manufacturing-focused organization in Merrimack, New Hampshire. This role partners closely with operations, engineering, and accounting teams to strengthen cost visibility, improve inventory accuracy, and provide timely analysis that supports business decisions. The position also plays an important part in establishing reliable procedures, maintaining compliant financial practices, and supporting day-to-day transactional continuity across related accounting functions.

Responsibilities:

• Direct cost accounting activities tied to ERP-related processes, working with cross-functional stakeholders to promote accurate financial data and efficient operations.

• Develop and maintain clear process documentation and standard operating procedures so costing practices are applied consistently across the business.

• Partner with engineering and operations teams to validate bill of materials, confirm cost structures, and support accurate inventory valuation.

• Produce recurring financial reports and analysis that help leadership monitor spending, assess performance, and identify cost improvement opportunities.

• Complete month-end accounting tasks such as preparing journal entries, reconciling accounts, and supporting close accuracy and timeliness.

• Assist with accounts payable activities to help ensure invoices and related transactions are processed correctly and on schedule.

• Provide backup coverage for both accounts payable and accounts receivable functions to maintain continuity during workflow changes or team absences.

• Uphold internal financial controls, policy compliance, and accurate recordkeeping across assigned accounting processes.

• Contribute to additional accounting and finance projects as needed to support departmental and organizational priorities.

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
• At least five years of experience in cost accounting or broader financial management roles.
• Hands-on experience with ERP platforms such as Infor, Epicor, or similar business systems.
• Strong knowledge of manufacturing costing, cost analysis, inventory valuation, and related accounting practices.
• Demonstrated ability to create, document, and maintain standard operating procedures.
• Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Excel, along with strong general business software skills.
• Excellent organizational, communication, and time-management abilities with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
• Ability to handle sensitive information professionally while managing multiple priorities across departments.
