Customs Brokerage Specialist

Our client, a well-established international logistics and customs brokerage organization, is seeking a Customs Brokerage Specialist to join its Seattle team. This position plays a critical role in ensuring the timely and compliant clearance of import shipments while providing exceptional service to customers and internal stakeholders.

The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of U.S. Customs regulations, import documentation, and customs entry processes, along with the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare, review, and transmit customs entries through ABI in compliance with U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) regulations.
• Analyze commercial documentation, including invoices, packing lists, and bills of lading, to ensure accurate customs declarations.
• Classify products using the Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS) and determine applicable duties, taxes, and fees.
• Coordinate with importers, carriers, government agencies, and customs officials to facilitate shipment clearance.
• Monitor shipment status and proactively address delays, examinations, holds, and other clearance issues.
• Ensure compliance with CBP regulations and Partner Government Agency (PGA) requirements, including FDA, USDA, EPA, and FCC where applicable.
• Maintain accurate records and support audit and compliance initiatives.
• Serve as a point of contact for customers, providing timely updates and resolving customs-related inquiries.
• Collaborate with operations, transportation, and customer service teams to ensure seamless import processing.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of customs brokerage experience.
• Strong knowledge of U.S. import regulations, customs entry procedures, and HTS classification.
• Experience utilizing ABI and customs brokerage software platforms.
• Familiarity with Partner Government Agency requirements is preferred.
• Licensed Customs Broker (LCB) is a plus but not required.
• Excellent attention to detail, organization, and problem-solving skills.
• Strong verbal and written communication abilities.
• Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and meet critical deadlines in a dynamic environment.
