We are seeking a new veterinarian to join our practice, following the retirement of one of our current amazing doctors. It is located just halfway between El Paso and Dallas, and is not far from Amarillo, San Antonio, and Austin. It is also just a short 4-hour drive from the Ruidoso Ski Resort and many lakes. If you enjoy sports, there are many local football games, minor league baseball games, and NAHL hockey leagues to both attend and participate in. The Midland/ Odessa area has many assortment of museums to check out. Midland is home to the I-20 wildlife preserve, the Sibley nature center, the Wagner Noel Performing arts Center where you can see many different varieties of entertainment. Many families have chosen the suburb of Greenwood with the Greenwood ISD schools for smaller class sizes and a great education. This allows for a small-town feel with all the offerings of a bigger city nearby. After all, we are in the heart of the Permian Basin and the oil industry center of the state. This area has a little bit of everything to offer! Essential Responsibilities Examine and treat companion animals to detect and determine the nature of disease or injuries. Operate diagnostic equipment and collect diagnostic samples as well as interpret results. Advise pet owners on preventative care and treatment options. Perform surgery and prescribe medication as needed. Provide counsel around pet end of life care. Maintain patients' medical records. Ensures compliance with veterinary ethics and relevant statutes, policies, and procedures. Requirements / Qualifications Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from an accredited AVMA institution. Appropriate state licensure. Eligibility to obtain DEA/BNDD. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Demonstrates professional and courteous presentation consistently with staff and clients. Ability to lift patients and carry equipment up to 25 pounds; ability to lift patients or carry equipment over 25 pounds with assistance.
