Backhaul Driver DOT

Position Summary and Responsibilities The purpose of the Local Backhaul Driver (DOT) is to ensure timely and accurate pick up of product from local vendors. You will be scheduling your appointments, picking up product, and returning it to the distribution center. Perform product deliveries along assigned routes, and other related duties to guarantee customer satisfaction. Follow BEK transportation policies and procedures to ensure compliance with safety guidelines. Complete administrative tasks and related paperwork to guarantee the efficiency of transportation operations. Some weekends required. Most holidays required. Must be able to spend 1-2 nights out of town per week. Education and/or Work Experience Requirements At least 1 year of route driving experience required. DOT certification required. Valid Texas State Class A CDL license required. Basic math skills required. Ability to understand and enforce regulatory guidelines. Knowledge of customer service principles and quality standards. Ability to use Microsoft Office and learn new applications/proprietary software. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Strong interpersonal skills with multiple levels of organization. Self‑motivated; able to work independently. Customer‑focused. Excellent relationship management and interpersonal skills. Detail‑oriented; prioritization. Independent thinking/decision‑making skills. Commitment to Ben E. Keith company principles and standards. Physical Requirements Must be able to work in all types of weather conditions. Ability to follow instructions and take direction. Must have normal use of shoulders, arms, wrist, hands, feet, and legs. Must be able to walk extensively. Must be able to stand for long periods, bend at the waist, stoop, and squat to lift heavy items properly. Ability to perform repetitive lifting of up to 50 lbs. Driver Safety Driver safety is important to Ben E. Keith. Dash cameras are used with artificial intelligence to recognize safe driving, capture safety events, and improve driver safety performance. The videos are used to exonerate drivers in accidents. All drivers sign a driver consent form upon hire to confirm their understanding.
