The College embraces and seeks to hire individuals who want to be a part of this environment and have the skill sets necessary to be successful in this position.Reporting to CIS Faculty, the Part-Time Instructional Lab Coordinator I is responsible for coordinating CIS lab activities and managing the CIS open lab.Job Duties:Classroom Lab Activities:Assist with setting up and running the lab component of the class, CNG 1020Prepare lab sessionsPerform planned classroom lab activitiesRead lab instructionsProvide any recommended changes and edits to the instructor at least one week before each sessionArrive 30 minutes prior to lab sessions to assist with classroom set-upAssist instructor with lab sessions:Assist students with the completion of the lab activitiesAnswer students’ questions about the activitiesReset classroom and debrief with the instructor after lab sessionsAssist with clean upProvide feedback to the instructorRecommend appropriate changes to improve future lab sessionsAssist with lab components of other classes for the department as directed by the department chairCIS Open Lab:Consult with faculty to schedule CIS open labEnsure consistency in the number of hours and level of assistance provided to CIS studentsEnsure that the lab is organized and locked when it is not in use and unlocked, prepared for student use, and staffed when it is scheduled for useAttend or ensure staffing of the lab during all open hoursAssist students with homework by clarifying and discussing questionsAssist students with debugging programsOversee the computer equipment and peripherals to keep the lab in working orderSubmit help desk tickets for non-functioning machines and devicesMonitor and record weekly inventory of machines, devices, and furniture in the labs and in the department’s laptop cartsCoordinate the process for instructors to reserve, use, and return the department’s laptop carts by instructorsSupervise one or more student workers doing lab work if they are assigned to staff in the labOther duties as assignedMinimum Qualifications:An Associate's degree plus one (1) year of work experience or an equivalent combination of education and/or work experienceDemonstrated proficiency in one or more specializations within Computer Information Systems and familiarity with networking conceptsPossesses and applies a broad knowledge of IT principles, practices and procedures, including hardware, software and networkingHas the ability to troubleshoot and resolve problemsHas the ability to effectively communicate orally and in written formPreferred Qualifications:Experience assisting instructors in presenting student lab sessionsExperience assisting team with extracurricular events such as open houses and student toursRequired Documents:ResumeCover LetterCopy of transcriptsAll Applicants:Compare your previous work experience to the job duties listed on the job positing under job description.
