Medical AssistantTo support U.S Urology Partners by assisting with routine lab procedures and collection of specimens.What You'll Be DoingMaintains timely flow of patientsGreets patients and prepares them for physician examination. Takes and documents patient histories including medications and drug allergies, height, weight, blood pressure, and pulseAssists physicians with procedures and collection of specimensDraws blood, collects urine samples, performs office lab procedures and documents results, and coordinates all specimen requests and reports to and from various laboratories. Pull charts for lab reports to be reviewed and signed by physiciansCleans and sterilizes equipment. Performs quality control measures and documentation. Prepares and replenishes supplies. Maintains inventoryInstructs patient regarding preparation for tests. Provides information and pamphlets Requests and assists with formal consent when requiredReceives and organizes the handling of medication samples, checks expiration dates and disposes outdated medications accordinglyDisposes of contaminated and disposable itemsMails normal PSA result and annual exam reminder cardsAttends required meetingsParticipates in professional development activitiesMaintains strictest confidentialityPerforms other duties as assignedWhat We Expect of YouOne year of medical assistant experience in a medical practice settingExcellent verbal and written communication skillsReasoning AbilityAbility to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
