Veterinary Extern - General Practice

Overview An externship experience at an NVA hospital will give students the unique opportunity to understand the day‑to‑day operations of the practice, and to gain valuable hands‑on clinical experience. Responsibilities Gather patient histories Perform physical exams Create treatment plans Conduct diagnostics Provide dentistry services Observe, assist, or perform surgical procedures Manage medical care for patients Practice communication skills with the medical team, support staff, and clients Eligibility & Duration Designed for 3rd & 4th year veterinary students. Most externships range from two to eight weeks depending on student and hospital schedules. Housing may be available in some instances. Travel / Living Expense Stipend Veterinary students in the clinical portion of their education are eligible for a travel/living expense stipend.
