Night Auditor

Purpose of Position Night Auditors greet and register guests, provide outstanding service during their stay, and settle their accounts upon completion. Primary responsibilities include completing night audit reports, balancing house accounts, processing credit cards, handling settlements, registering guests, and managing reservations. They perform hotel operator and concierge duties, maintaining service standards, maximizing room revenue and occupancy. Essential Functions Possess a positive, upbeat personality with a desire to deliver outstanding customer service. Maintain a high level of professional appearance and demeanor. Maintain the highest level of confidentiality in all areas. Run audit reports per checklist. Process no‑shows according to policy. Conduct security walks at least four times per shift. Set up lobby coffee service and breakfast if applicable. Demonstrate the ability to multi‑task, be detail‑oriented, and problem‑solve to effectively deal with customers. Handle and resolve guest complaints professionally and courteously, using effective listening and clarifying. Demonstrate good communication skills. Perform basic math and understand financial information. Recognize and take action on safety or loss prevention incidents that could cause damage, injury, or liability. Implement all company safety and security policies. Complete training in security, alcohol, and health & safety guidelines. Work with other departments to keep room status up‑to‑date and ensure timely repairs. Use persuasive selling techniques to promote rooms and marketing programs. Carry out front desk responsibilities including greeting guests, performing transactions, balancing reports, cash control, deposits, processing reservations and credit cards. Operate phone system and TDD equipment, communicate via shift logbook and reports. Schedule wake‑up calls according to property procedures. Understand hotel policies regarding cancellations, extended stays, room types/rates, late check‑outs, early arrivals, and special requests. Responsible for key control, issuing and receiving room and master keys. Process lost & found items according to policy. Operate computer equipment, including Microsoft Office suite. Assist in training new staff. Support a positive work environment. Maintain knowledge of hotel products and services (e.g., food & beverage, recreation). Perform other duties as assigned. Position Requirements Mandatory Job Requirements Communicate with staff, guests, and management in a professional manner. Know the surrounding area and events. Understand proper telephone etiquette. Adhere to cash and credit card handling policies. Read, write, and speak English. Learn safety, emergency, and accident prevention policies. Maintain a neat, well‑groomed appearance, proper uniform, and name tag per brand standards. Have a flexible schedule, including weekends, evenings, and holidays. Accountability Complete night audit training within the brand’s timeframe. Follow and submit daily checklist per property procedures. Maintain high quality, service, cleanliness, and guest survey scores within an acceptable range. Ensure smooth front desk operation. Communicate openly with direct supervisor. Experience or Training Required High school education. 1 year hospitality or guest service experience (Preferred). Detail‑oriented. License or Certification Required Complete night audit training program within the brand required timeframe. Marginal Job Functions Clean guestrooms, lobby, and public areas as needed. Restock front desk supplies. Help with laundry as needed. Deliver cribs, towels, or other items to guestrooms as requested. Perform light maintenance duties. Restock inventory and sell guest marketplace and pub if applicable. Physical Demands Stand, walk; use hands and fingers for long periods, up to 8 hours. Reach with hands and arms. Perform repeated movements, including frequent keyboarding. Speak clearly and understand speech of others. Read and see details. Lift up to 10 pounds occasionally, up to 35 pounds from time to time. Stoop, kneel, twist or crouch occasionally. Environmental Conditions The job is considered inside; employees will spend 75% or more of their time inside. Must work effectively in a stressful environment, communicate well, deal with guests, and accept constructive criticism. Must adapt to frequent changes and interruptions.
