Job Title: Industrial Paint Prepper Job Description

This role supports a high-performance industrial painting operation by performing detailed paint preparation and basic painting tasks on HVAC components and related systems. You will work closely with experienced painters to ensure surfaces are properly prepared, coatings are correctly applied, and finished products meet strict quality and durability standards in a modern, clean, and air-conditioned manufacturing facility.

• Support the painting team by performing basic preparation duties, including masking, taping, sanding, finishing, deburring, and basic paint work.
• Inspect HVAC components and systems to determine the best approach for painting, including appropriate surface preparation, coating selection, and application techniques.
• Perform complex painting tasks such as intricate detailing, application of high-durability coatings, and protective finishes as directed.
• Conduct quality control inspections on painted surfaces to ensure they meet aesthetic, functional, and durability requirements.
• Maintain and troubleshoot painting equipment, ensuring it remains in proper working condition and performing preventive maintenance as needed.
• Stay current with new painting technologies, materials, and industry best practices, and help implement improvements when appropriate.
• Follow instructions and work under the supervision and guidance of more experienced painters.
• Adhere to lean manufacturing guidelines and provide continuous improvement suggestions to increase efficiency and quality.
• Work safely at all times, using required personal protective equipment and following safety regulations and environmental controls.

• At least 6 months of paint prep experience in an industrial paint setting.
• Hands-on experience with industrial paint preparation activities such as masking, sanding, taping, and surface finishing.
• Experience working with paint systems and paint booths in an industrial, automotive, truck, boat, or body shop environment.
• Proficiency with spray gun use and basic spray painting techniques.
• Knowledge of painting techniques, coatings, and finishing methods used in industrial painting.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to deliver high-quality, durable finishes.
• Ability to read and interpret technical specifications and blueprints.
• Knowledge of safety regulations, environmental controls, and PPE requirements in industrial painting environments.
• Ability to follow instructions, work under supervision, and collaborate effectively with a painting team.
• Ability to lift and move up to 35 pounds and perform physical tasks such as standing, walking, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and climbing portable ladders.
• Good manual dexterity and multi-limb coordination to handle tools, equipment, and detailed prep work.
• Ability to work the weekend shift schedule of Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from 5:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

• Experience in automotive, truck, boat, or body shop painting environments.
• Background in industrial painting, paint prep, or paint shop operations.
• Familiarity with masking techniques and working as a paint helper or paint prepper in a production setting.
• Comfort working with advanced paint equipment and in a modern, technology-driven manufacturing environment.
• Interest in continuous improvement and lean manufacturing practices.
• Ability to adapt to new painting technologies, materials, and methods.
• Willingness to grow into more complex painting tasks, leadership roles, or specialized training over time.

The role is based in a modern, state-of-the-art manufacturing facility featuring industry 4.0 technology and an air-conditioned, clean, and well-organized paint shop. The environment offers better conditions than a typical body shop, with a strong focus on paint quality and investment in advanced paint equipment. The position follows a weekend shift schedule of Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from 5:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., with a weekend shift premium and opportunities for voluntary overtime. Work involves regular physical activity, including standing, walking, stooping, kneeling, crouching, climbing portable ladders, and lifting up to 35 pounds. The role requires good manual dexterity and multi-limb coordination to operate tools and painting equipment safely and effectively. Personal protective equipment is required and provided, and the workplace emphasizes adherence to safety regulations and environmental controls. This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Mesa, AZ.

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $24.00/hr.
