Registered Nurse - Stepdown/PCU

Schedule

This position requires 12-hour night shifts, with weekends as scheduled.

Job Description

The Registered Nurse will provide quality patient care in the Stepdown/PCU unit. The nurse will manage care for up to 30 beds, collaborating with a team to monitor and administer treatments, while ensuring high standards of communication with patients and their families.

Responsibilities

• Manage patient care for Stepdown/PCU, focusing on cardiac patients, post-pneumonia, post-cath lab, seizures, and ETOH withdrawal (CIWA protocols).
• Administer and titrate cardiac drips including cardizem, amiodarone, nitroglycerin, heparin, dopamine, dobutamine, and angiomax.
• Read and interpret telemetry, print strips, perform measurements, and identify rhythms.
• Oversee patient care technicians and delegate appropriate tasks (ADLs, vitals, bathing, repositioning, etc.).
• Collaborate with hospitalists and intensivists available 24/7 for comprehensive patient management.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• A minimum of 2 years of experience in Stepdown/PCU nursing.
• Required certifications: BLS and ACLS.
• Must possess a valid nursing license and disclose any licensing hits at the time of application.
• Knowledge of cardiac monitoring and comfort with troubleshooting respiratory equipment is necessary.
