Position Title: Phlebotomist

The Phlebotomist is responsible for the completion of the routine workload in the specimen collection, processing, and office areas according to established laboratory polices and procedures. The exact nature of the work may vary depending on the workload and the assigned tasks.


Minimum Qualifications:

• Certification specializing in phlebotomy credentialed from the American Society for Clinical Pathology Board of Certification (ASCP-BOC) is preferred, or, 2 years of practical experience as a Phlebotomists as determined by the agency; or,
• Medical Laboratory Assistant credentialed from the Americal Society for Clinical Pathology Board of Certification (ASCP-BOC) preferred; or,
• Medical Laboratory Assistant credentialed from the American Medical Technologist (AMT) preferred.
• Tech credentialed from the American Society of Phlebotomy Technicians. All issuing authorities accepted preferred.
• Must have a High School Diploma or Equivalent.

• Demonstrate a high level of customer service, approachability and professionalism when interacting with clients, staff, and external contacts.
• Ability to modify approach with clients to help clients feel less nervous which sets the tone for obtaining cooperation and from clients.
• Ability to follow established policies and procedures as well as ability to adhere to lab procedures and includes lab orders (directives) from physicians and nurse practitioners.
• Ability to sustain integrity of prescreening and obtaining client information, upkeep of logs, data input and other records required to properly document lab procedures completely and ensuring accuracy.
• Ability to learn and effectively navigate electronic record and other software systems.
• Ability to demonstrate strong communication, interpersonal and customer service skills daily.
• Be willing and able to maintain professional standards of practice and always adhere to CRS policies and standard professional ethics.
• Ability to demonstrate intermediate knowledge level of Microsoft Office Applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook), and be willing and able to learn company specific programs.
• Must possess strong organizational, problem-solving, multi-tasking, and ability to pay attention to details.
• Ability to be flexible in performing other duties in the clinic as needed.

Physical Requirements: Requires ability to perform blood draws and other lab testing. Must be able to move from location to location, bending, stopping, lifting 15 pounds, communicate clearly, complete documentation logs, prepare written communications, effectively present information to others, e.g. clients and employees, process complex information within established procedures/programs, enter data to various programs, electronic or manually.

HIPAA: This staff member is permitted to locate information necessary to follow through with client care as assigned to the role of the position. Information access will be authorized by supervisor and or may be requested by HIM staff. Access permitted to this staff member is to retrieve information necessary to follow through with the position responsibilities.

Reports To: Nurse Care Manager and indirectly to the Clinical Director.

Employment Status: Hourly non-exempt

Hours: Full time. Evening work and overtime as necessary to meet business and position needs will be required.
