Security Officer - 40hrs (Days)

Responsibilities Maintain safety and security throughout hospital buildings, grounds, and parking areas. Conduct routine and random patrols to deter and detect unsafe or suspicious activity. Respond promptly to security incidents, alarms, emergencies, and requests for assistance. De‑escalate disruptive situations involving patients, visitors, or staff using approved techniques. Assist with behavioral health or combative patient situations in accordance with hospital policy and training. Control access to restricted areas and verify identification as required. Monitor security systems, including cameras, alarms, and access control systems. Provide assistance, directions, and customer service to patients and visitors in a professional manner. Accurately document incidents, observations, and actions taken in written reports. Support emergency response activities, including fire alarms, evacuations, medical emergencies, and disaster situations. Collaborate with hospital leadership, clinical staff, and local law enforcement as needed. Comply with hospital policies, safety procedures, and regulatory requirements. Participate in required training, drills, and continuing education. Required Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent. Education/training preference for high school diploma. Minimum of 2 years of experience in security, public safety, hospital, healthcare, or behavioral health environment involving direct interaction with patients, visitors, or the public. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Strong observational, problem‑solving, and decision‑making skills. Ability to remain calm and professional in high‑stress situations. Effective verbal and written communication skills. Customer service mindset with the ability to interact respectfully with diverse populations. Ability to follow protocols, policies, and instructions accurately. CPR/BLS certification through American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross required or must be obtained within 90 days of employment. AVADE certification required or must be obtained within 30 days of employment. Active driver’s license required. Preferred Qualifications Previous hospital security experience. Advanced security education. Experience using access control and CCTV systems. Strong report writing skills. Physical Demands Must be able to walk 90% of the time, run, stand, sit, use hands to grip, secure restraints, and reach with hands and arms. Must be able to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Must regularly lift and/or move up to 75 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move more than 100 pounds when assisting in a medical emergency or evicting an individual from the premises. Must be able to talk or hear both in person and via two‑way radio as well as ear piece in crowded and noisy situations. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. Salary Range $19.85 – $30.05 per hour for full‑time employment. Final compensation will be determined based on the candidate’s work history, experience, skill set, and education.
