Dietary Cook (Skilled Nursing Facility)

Meal Preparation Position

Position purpose: Full-time and part-time shifts available. Responsible to assure meal(s) assigned is palatable and prepared in orderly, timely manner, using established procedures in response to requirements and as directed by supervisor.

Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Others may be assigned:

• Responsible for prompt and efficient organizing, preparing and serving meals as directed.
• Responsible for quality and quantity of food prepared, for the accuracy of menus and diets as served and for honoring resident's known likes, dislikes and food preferences.
• Able to organize tasks to perform with accuracy, in a safe manner and with concern for equipment and environment.
• Informs supervisor of equipment and dietary supply needs.
• Participates in in-service and continuing education to remain current of requirements.

Qualification requirements:

• Must possess ability to learn and follow directions.
• Possess the ability to judge quality of food prepared and aesthetic presentation
• Capable and willing to decipher and follow guidelines provided for preparation and service of meals.

Physical demands:

• While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to talk or hear
• The employee will be required to stand, but no more than two consecutive hours.
• Nor will the employee be required to sit, stoop or sit in a stationary position for more than two consecutive hours.
• The employee must frequently lift and move up to 35-pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision and the ability to adjust or focus.

Work environment:

• The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
