Join a dedicated laboratory team in a well-established healthcare setting serving the Southeastern United States region. This role involves the precise analysis of laboratory specimens and timely reporting of results in accordance with established protocols and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide expert guidance on specimen acceptability, unusual results, and instrument issues.
• Perform accurate testing of specimens following laboratory procedures.
• Report test outcomes promptly and maintain compliance with quality control standards including CAP and JCAHO.
• Conduct routine maintenance on laboratory instruments as required.
• Adhere to safety protocols including universal precautions, bloodborne pathogen standards, and hazardous materials handling.
• Support orientation and training for new laboratory staff and students.
• Perform phlebotomy when necessary.
• Assist with coverage during Technical Specialist absences and float between laboratory sites as needed.

Education and Experience

A Bachelor's degree in Medical Laboratory Science with clinical training across neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, and adult patient testing is required. MLS(ASCP) certification is mandatory. No prior work experience is necessary, but clinical training is essential.

Skills and Abilities

• Strong decision-making and teamwork capabilities.
• Proficiency in operating laboratory equipment and communication tools including LIS and email.
• Flexibility to work additional hours or shifts under pressure.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to perform complex testing independently after competency validation.

Physical Requirements

Light lifting up to 25 pounds, manual dexterity, clear verbal communication, and near visual acuity are necessary. The role may involve exposure to blood or infectious materials.

Licenses and Certifications

MLS(ASCP) certification is required.
