About the Role
The Company is in search of a Controller and Vice President for Property Accounting and Financial Reporting. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes across multiple properties and entities, ensuring the accuracy and compliance of property-level financials with GAAP standards. This role involves independent review and approval of financial statements, as well as managing a team of 8-10 remote property accountants. The Controller/VP will also oversee various financial processes, including reconciliations, A/P, A/R, and cash management, and will be a key partner with the Asset Management team on variance analysis and NOI drivers. Applicants must have a minimum of 8 years' of accounting experience, with a specific focus on real estate, and a proven track record of managing teams, including remote and offshore members. Strong proficiency in Yardi and Microsoft Excel is essential, as is a deep understanding of accrual accounting, property-level financials, and experience with NYC filings, particularly TC and RPIE. The role requires a candidate with a background in NYC multifamily real estate, experience with outsourced accounting teams, and a strong ability to drive process improvements and enhance internal controls. The position is demanding and requires a professional who is adept at building and enhancing financial reporting, as well as serving as a system lead for Yardi.
