Quality Lab Technician

Quality Lab TechnicianPlans, coordinates, and performs raw material and finished product testing. The testing will involve sampling and mechanical testing to determine standards of performance as it relates to current raw material and finished material specifications. Utilize analytical instrumentation and other equipment as required.Responsibilities include, but not limited to the following:Set-up mechanical and/or electrical testing devices and apparatus in order to analyze raw materials and finished products.Operate testing devices through prescribed sequences; read and record test data and call attention to deviations not indicated or anticipatedActively support, participate in and maintain the integrity and on-going function of the Company and facility's safety program; ensuring a safe/healthy work environmentPerform a variety of functions necessary for the successful operation/facility, as assigned by the management of the CompanyResponsible for daily testing duties as they relate to melt flow, FTIR, DSC, mechanical testing and Critical ShearMaintain accurate work records and communicate daily activitiesMaintain laboratory equipmentInterface with production and Sourcing to resolve production floor issues as they relate to the recyclable raw material.Carefully test raw materials and finished product in order to adhere to established specification rangesEngage in the daily testing to investigate incoming raw material loads for complianceEnsure regulatory compliance as directed by Quality Systems policies and proceduresGenerate technical reports summarizing work performed and results obtainedAssist with trials on experimental, pilot scale, or production equipment to evaluate new materials, new product designs, and/or process modifications as directedPerform non-routine specialized testing on materials and products as directedTesting and shipment of outgoing material, including COA's and BLO'sOther activities as assigned.One to two years' experience working in an analytical or QA environment laboratory is preferred but not requiredMathematical abilityStrong lab skills, hand dexterity and proficiency with precision equipmentExcellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlinesExcellent communication skills, both oral and writtenExperience with Microsoft platformsAbility to quickly learn and effectively utilize enterprise software systems, including MES and Blue Yonder.Good mechanical aptitudeIndividuals may need to sit or stand as needed. May require walking primarily on a level surface for periodic periods throughout the day. Reaching above shoulder heights, below the waist or lifting as required; filing documents or storing materials throughout the workday. Proper lifting techniques required. May include lifting up to 25 pounds.Ability to read printed data from reports, as well as computer screen and to key data into the computer.The use of personal protective equipment (PPE) such as eyewear, hearing protection, bump cap, high vis vest or shirt, steel too or composite shoes is required where applicable.Must be able to communicate by phone and email.While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to wet, cold, hot, and/or humid conditions, moving mechanical parts and vibrations. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. However, the majority of work functions take place in ambient room temperatures, lighting and traditional office equipment as found in a typical office environment. The noise level in the office work environment is usually quiet.
