Great Lakes Counseling Center is looking for a dedicated Licensed Mental Health Counselor to become part of our dynamic team. This full-time remote position allows you to connect with clients facing a variety of mental health challenges while working from the comfort of your home. Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough assessments of clients’ mental health by utilizing structured diagnostic tools and interviewing techniques during initial consultations.
  • Develop individualized treatment plans based on comprehensive assessments, incorporating both client-identified goals and clinically informed strategies.
  • Provide ongoing therapy sessions—both individual and group therapy—utilizing evidence-based interventions tailored to meet the unique needs of diverse patient populations.
  • Regularly monitor clients' progress and make necessary adjustments to treatment plans to enhance therapeutic outcomes.
  • Facilitate referral processes to other healthcare providers such as psychiatrists when medication management is warranted, ensuring coordinated and holistic client care.
  • Document client interactions and treatment progress in our electronic health record (EHR) system, maintaining compliance with organizational policies and regulatory standards.

Patient Population / Client Focus

Our counselors work with a broad range of clientele, including individuals facing anxiety, depression, substance use disorders, trauma, and eating disorders. Our commitment to cultural competence is paramount; counselors are expected to adapt therapeutic approaches to resonate with the cultural backgrounds and specific needs of each client. Providing an inclusive environment where all clients feel understood and respected is a fundamental aspect of our practice.

Qualifications

  • A master’s or doctoral degree in Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, Mental Health Counseling, or Psychology from an accredited institution.
  • Current and valid license as LMFT, LMHC, LCSW, or LCSW-R in the state of New York.
  • A minimum of four years of relevant counseling experience, demonstrating proficiency in managing a diverse client caseload.
  • Strong knowledge of various mental health conditions and evidence-based therapeutic approaches, including crisis intervention strategies.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to establish rapport quickly and sensitively with a diverse population.
  • Experience in using electronic health record (EHR) systems to manage documentation efficiently.

Preferred Experience

  • Demonstrated competency in providing both individual and group therapy sessions.
  • Experience with culturally responsive therapy practices to address the unique challenges faced by underserved populations.
  • A background in community mental health or public health settings is a plus.

Compensation and Benefits

Great Lakes Counseling Center offers a competitive salary range of USD 70,000 to 100,000 per year, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
