Job Summary Under general supervision, an employee in this class performs skilled new plumbing installation and extension, replacement, alteration, maintenance, and repair of plumbing, drainage and sewage disposal systems—including, but not limited to, water supply/distribution pipes, drainage, vent pipes, building drains, fittings, hydrants, valves, plumbing, heating fixtures, traps, and water and drainage systems according to specifications in the State of Minnesota plumbing codes. The employee trains and directs the work of licensed plumbers and plumber/fitters, laborers, other trades and maintenance employees, and correctional facility incarcerated persons. The lead work for this position is ongoing, daily responsibility to prioritize, schedule, assign, direct, guide, document and report on the work activities of subordinate workers so that the work is completed efficiently and effectively. Qualifications Minimum Qualifications The following qualifications are required of all applicants seeking consideration for this position. Possession of Minnesota Master Plumber's License and a valid Minnesota Class D Driver's license. Leadership skills sufficient to provide lead‑work direction that includes prioritizing and assigning job duties, directing, guiding and reporting on work activities of other staff. Preferred Qualifications The following qualifications are strongly desired of applicants seeking consideration for this position. Commercial plumbing experience. Experience working with electronic controlled plumbing. Experience working in a correctional facility. Physical Requirements The completion of pre‑placement physical components may be required for this position. These components may consist of a tuberculosis screening, commercial driver's license (CDL) drug test, and/or respirator clearance. The selected finalist may also be required to review and sign a Physical Demands Analysis (PDA) for this position. This may include a review of job performance and discipline records. New employees will be fingerprinted within the first 30 days of employment.
