Southern California Contractor is seeking an experienced Field Superintendent to help manage and support commercial building envelope projects, including glazing systems, aluminum panels, cladding, and related exterior façade work.

This is a field leadership position for someone who understands commercial construction, can coordinate field crews, manpower, and schedules, communicate professionally with general contractors and project teams, and step in hands-on when needed to help keep projects moving.

We are looking for a superintendent with experience in one or more of the following trades:

Commercial glazing, storefront, curtain wall, window wall, doors/hardware, MCM panels, sheet metal, architectural cladding, or related building envelope systems.

Position Summary

The Field Superintendent will help oversee the successful installation of commercial glazing and/or cladding projects from preconstruction coordination through final punch list. This includes planning manpower, coordinating field activities, reviewing drawings, supporting layout and field measurements, monitoring quality and production, maintaining jobsite safety expectations, and communicating daily with project managers, field crews, general contractors, and other trade partners.

This is not a desk-only role. The right person must be willing and able to assist in the field, support crews, and perform hands-on installation work when needed.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise and coordinate field crews and/or subcontractors on commercial projects.
• Work closely with Project Managers, Operations, and GC site teams to plan mobilization, sequencing, manpower, equipment, materials, and installation schedules.
• Read and interpret construction plans, specifications, and shop drawings.
• Review shop drawings for constructability and help identify potential field issues before installation.
• Perform or assist with field measuring, layout, and verification of site conditions.
• Coordinate glazing, metal panel, cladding, flashing, trims, caulking, and punch list activities as applicable to each project.
• Monitor labor, material, equipment, and consumable usage to help keep projects on schedule and within budget.
• Call on/off lifts, equipment, tools, and field materials as needed.
• Identify field conflicts, schedule impacts, trade coordination issues, and constructability concerns early.
• Communicate timely updates, jobsite issues, manpower needs, photos, and documentation to the office.
• Complete, review, and submit daily field reports, timecards, progress photos, safety documentation, and other required paperwork.
• Coordinate and document completed work areas, punch list items, and closeout-related field tasks.
• Maintain professional communication with general contractors, customers, inspectors, subcontractors, vendors, and internal team members.
• Step in hands-on to assist or lead installation work when needed.
• Support estimating and operations with field input on manpower, sequencing, and installation budgets when requested.
• Perform other related duties as needed based on project and company needs.

** Safety & Field Leadership Expectations **

The Field Superintendent is expected to promote and maintain safe jobsite practices while leading by example. This role is not a dedicated Safety Coordinator position, but safety leadership is a key part of field supervision.

Responsibilities include:

• Follow and enforce company safety policies, jobsite requirements, and applicable OSHA standards.
• Conduct and document regular jobsite safety checks.
• Ensure weekly tailgate safety meetings are completed and submitted.
• Confirm crews are using proper PPE, fall protection, ladders, scaffolding, lifts, tools, and equipment safely.
• Identify unsafe conditions and help correct them promptly.
• Confirm crews are properly trained or qualified for the work and equipment being used.
• Help maintain clean, organized work areas and clear access/egress paths.
• Ensure crews protect finished work, building contents, company materials, tools, and equipment from damage or theft.
• Promote safe lifting, material handling, housekeeping, and daily cleanup practices.

Required Experience

• Commercial construction field experience required.
• Building envelope experience required in one or more of the following:
• * Commercial glazing
  • Storefront
  • Curtain wall
  • Window wall
  • Doors and hardware
  • ACM/MCM panels
  • Metal panels
  • Sheet metal
  • Architectural cladding
  • Exterior façade systems
• Prior experience leading crews, coordinating field work, or supervising commercial installation projects.
• Ability to read plans, specifications, shop drawings, and installation details.
• Ability to coordinate with general contractors, project managers, field crews, and other trades.
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to make practical field decisions.
• Strong communication, documentation, and leadership skills.
• Must be willing and able to work hands-on when needed.
• Valid driver’s license, acceptable driving record, and ability to meet company insurance requirements.

Physical / Field Requirements

This position requires regular jobsite work and may include:

• Working on active commercial construction sites.
• Walking jobsites, climbing ladders, accessing scaffolding, and working from lifts.
• Working at heights when required.
• Standing, walking, bending, kneeling, reaching, climbing, pushing, pulling, and performing other physical movements associated with field construction work.
• Lifting, carrying, and maneuvering tools, materials, equipment, glazing components, panels, and other heavy weighted items associated with the trade.
• Safely handling and moving construction materials with assistance, equipment, or proper lifting methods when required.
• Driving to and traveling between company facilities, project sites, vendors, and other job-related locations as needed.
• Working indoors and outdoors in varying weather and jobsite conditions.
• Occasional overtime, early mornings, evenings, or weekend work depending on project needs.

Compensation

Salary Range: $85,000 – $98,000 per year , depending on experience.
