Tech - MLT/Medical Technologist/Clinical Lab Scientist

Job Description

Job Summary:
The Medical Technologist is responsible for performing complex laboratory tests across chemistry and microbiology disciplines, ensuring accurate and timely results. This role requires technical skill, attention to detail, and strong communication with healthcare professionals.

Responsibilities:

• Conduct and analyze chemistry and microbiology assays using a variety of instrumentation and manual techniques.
• Prepare and process specimens, including blood cultures and gram stains, with precision and adherence to safety standards.
• Operate and maintain laboratory equipment such as Beckman Coulter AU, DXI, DXA, Diasorin, and Remisol analyzers.
• Document test results accurately in the laboratory information system (Sunquest/Clinysis) and communicate findings clearly to physicians and staff.
• Follow quality control protocols and troubleshoot issues promptly to ensure reliable test outcomes.
• Rotate shifts, including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays, and comply with scheduling requirements.

Qualifications:

• Hold an active ASCP certification as a Medical Laboratory Scientist or Medical Laboratory Technician.
• Demonstrate proficiency in manual and automated chemistry assays, microbiology, and PCR testing.
• Exhibit excellent attention to detail and high-level accuracy in all tasks.
• Possess strong communication skills to collaborate effectively with medical staff and colleagues.
• Be punctual, organized, and capable of managing multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced environment.
• Have experience with Sunquest/Clinysis LIS and EPIC EMR systems.
