A confidential Texas-based litigation practice is seeking an experienced insurance defense litigator to take meaningful ownership of a busy docket, drive case strategy, and work directly with clients and carriers. This is a strong fit for an attorney who wants hands-on litigation work, regular advocacy opportunities, and a long-term path in a defense-side practice.

THE ROLE

• Manage insurance defense litigation matters from inception through resolution.
• Develop case strategy, evaluate liability and damages exposure, and provide case status updates.
• Draft, file, and argue motions, including dispositive motions where appropriate.
• Handle written discovery, including drafting and responding to discovery and motions to compel when needed.
• Take and defend depositions (party, fact witness, and expert).
• Appear at hearings and support trial preparation (witness preparation, exhibit organization, and pretrial tasks).
• Participate in mediations and support settlement negotiations.
• Communicate directly with clients and carriers regarding strategy, budgets, and settlement posture.

LOCATION, SCHEDULE AND COMPENSATION

Location:

San Antonio area, Texas

Schedule:

Hybrid, in office 4 days per week

Compensation:

Base salary range: $160,000 to $180,000

REQUIREMENTS

• 5+ years of insurance defense litigation experience (8 to 10+ years preferred).
• Experience in one or more of the following: auto liability, trucking litigation, product liability, or construction defect defense.
• Active Texas bar admission and in good standing.
• Juris Doctor from an accredited law school.
• Strong legal writing skills and comfort with motion practice.
• Ability to manage deadlines, priorities, and case strategy across an active docket.

PREFERRED BACKGROUND

• Ability to run files with a high degree of autonomy, including direct client communication and day-to-day case management.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

• Billable hours expectation: 2,000.
