VacancyTitle: Nursery Deputy Manager

The Nursery Deputy Manager will work as part of the Early Years team, taking responsibility to ensure that all children in the nursery receive the highest standard of care and education. They will assist the Playgroup Manager in providing a high standard of care and education that meets the statutory requirements of the Early Years Foundation Stage, Children Act, OFSTED inspections, and support the nursery management with all aspects of safeguarding. Responsibilities Assist the Early Years Provisions Manager in providing effective day-to-day management and running of the Nursery. In conjunction with the Early Years Provision Manager, formulate, operate and evaluate a yearly programme of activities, following the guidelines of the National Curriculum that is suitable to the age range of children. Assist the Manager in promoting Equal Opportunities throughout the Nursery. Ensure the safety and security of the nursery premises, users and staff in accordance with health and safety legislation and nursery policies and procedures. Provide a high standard of care and education, meeting the requirements of the Statutory Framework of the EYFS, Children Act and OFSTED inspections. Arrive on time to prepare the day’s activities and set up equipment before the children arrive, and clear up after the children and parents leave. Offer a full programme of activities throughout the day and recognise that this will need careful planning, involving other staff and trainees to develop the potential of each child. Undertake any other appropriate and reasonable activity relevant to the job as required or directed by the Early Years’ Provisions Manager or person in charge. Encourage parent/carer involvement in the nursery. Keep up to date with the latest ideas in the under-fives field through research, courses and publications. Employment Requirements Employment in this role is dependent on an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check and a check against the Children’s Barred List.
